“dis connected” explores the idea of social media and its effect on the modern day dating scene, begging the question whether you can find love on your phone.

Written and Directed by Jake De Agrela and starring Monique Brocklehurst and Zachary Cave, we follow Alice and Chris’ developing relationship through this 47-minute film. Supporting cast includes Mikaela Innes, Steven Ozanne, Rebecca Collin and James Mooney. Nic Doig does original music while James Mooney does original soundtracks and Jack Bett is Director of Graphics. The film is also produced, edited and shot by Jake De Agrela.

The film officially premiered on March 1st, 2019 at the Backlot Perth. Packing the theater, the film received an overwhelmingly positive reception from cast/crew and attendees. It was screened after a foreword speech from director Jake De Agrela and a screening of “Cradle” (2018), then followed by a cast/crew panel and Q&A from the audience. Two members of the audience also won a door prize gift basket of goodies as well as a A2 poster of the film, fully signed by the team behind the film.

The film got a home-release DVD which released on the 20th of August, 2019. It contains the film as well as over two hours of exclusive bonus content which includes: A blooper reel, the “making-of” documentary, Zachary Cave’s audition, a commentary track, the production photo gallery, the aforementioned cast/crew panel and pre-release trailers of the film. Exactly one year later, the film released on Vimeo On Demand. On the 29th of June, 2021, the film was finally released for free on Vimeo (watch above).
